MADISON — Thanks to the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, the rock & roll nutrition assembly Jump with Jill is heading to five elementary schools across Wisconsin during National Nutrition Month this March. From March 4-8, 2019, the Jump with Jill Live Tour Presented by the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin teaches kids the importance of healthy eating and draws attention to Wisconsin dairy. Wisconsin is known as Americas’ Dairyland, where milk is the official state beverage. With more than 8,000 dairy farms, Wisconsin boasts more dairy farms than any other state and more cows in the state than kids going to school.
“We are excited to offer this experience to help Wisconsin school children realize that fueling up with local nutritious foods like milk, cheese and yogurt and exercising every day will help them to live happier, healthier lives,” Youth and Schools Program Manager Karen Doster said. “The show format teaches nutrition in a fun kid-friendly way and supports the key messages of our
Fuel Up to Play 60 program.”
Created by a Registered Dietitian and musician, Jump with Jill has been performed 3,500 times in six countries for over a million kids. Their award-winning approach to nutrition education – which covers healthy habits from eating breakfast, enjoying fruits and vegetables, and exercising – includes a blinged-out milk jug affectionately called by his rapper name, Calcium. Representing the bone building crew of milk, yogurt and cheese, the show highlights the essential work of dairy farmers that produce the calcium- and protein-rich foods and drinks we enjoy.
“We are so excited to sing the praises of Wisconsin dairy farmers,” Jump with Jill creator Jill Jayne said. “Milk is also our official beverage so we are excited to show off our strong bones.” Shows are closed to the public, but media are welcome to cover the live event and interview the cast of Jump with Jill onsight before or after the show. Schools are providing media clearance for students. The cast is also available for early morning or evening in-studio appearances.
