COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — 4-H is gearing up for a year of fun, friends, and learning. The new 4-H year begins October 1, and it’s time for new 4-H clubs in New York State to start! The Otsego County 4-H office is identifying adult volunteers and new members. Youth ages 5 – 19 can join a 4-H club. 4-H information nights will be held Tuesday, October 9, 6:30 p.m. at 31 Maple Street in Oneonta and Wednesday, October 10, 6:30 p.m. at 123 Lake Street in Cooperstown. Pre-registration is appreciated. Call 607-547-2536 ext. 225 or email otsego@cornell.edu.
What makes 4-H unique? 4-H is a real-life experience for youth ages 5 through 19. Members choose projects in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, healthy lifestyles, and citizenship. Project information is researched and a product of the Land Grant University system. Using life skills, members learn how to manage their resources, work together in groups, develop critical thinking skills, and communicate with others.
4-H participation is open to all youth, regardless of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender or disability.
