MONTROSE, Pa. — Imagine a hot and sunny summer day— blue skies and a gentle breeze. What could be better than this? Now imagine all of this, and your favorite ice cream dripping as you enjoy this delicious dairy treat. Hungry for ice cream yet!?
My name is Elizabeth Chidester, and I am the 2020-2021 Susquehanna County Dairy Princess. I am a third-generation dairy farmer and am seventeen years old. I enjoy working with the cows and calves on my family’s dairy farm, and I am excited to announce one of my favorite months of the year!
Did you know July is National Ice Cream Month? It’s the perfect time of year to relax, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy this delicious frozen dairy treat! This delicious dairy treat is made from the goodness of cow’s milk. Cow’s milk contains nine essential vitamins and nutrients such as calcium, phosphorous, and vitamin A. These nine essential vitamins and nutrients are perfect for keeping your body strong and healthy all year long!
Milk is an essential part of every balanced diet and is nature’s most nearly perfect food. Milk can be made into a variety of delicious dairy products like cheese, butter, chocolate milk, and my personal favorite: cookie dough ice cream!
I hope this summer, as you enjoy the sunny skies, warm air, and ice cream, you remember to thank the farmers that worked to raise healthy cows that produce the milk your ice cream is made from. Thank you and remember to support your local dairy farmers!
