FLEMINGTON, N.J. — The Covid-19 Tree Farm Day interruption is finally over and we are celebrating an in-person TF Day and hope you are excited as us to join us at the 2019 NJ Outstanding Tree Farm of the Year (NJOTFY) recipient Clover Road & Gun Club Tree Farm. Yet another outstanding day is planned for you all.
The Clover Rod & Gun Club has had a lot of activity over the past 48 years, and the forest resource management and Outreach & Education work has been impressive. We will be able to see management of multi-aged forests, non-native plant management, management for game and non-game wildlife species, including some threatened and endangered species. We’ll see reforestation efforts. You can learn how to identify some of our common forest health issues, including gypsy moth, fungal disorders in beech and birch, and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and Ash Yellows (AKA Ash Decline).
The different break-out sessions will be offered in the morning and afternoon, including how to grow Shiitake mushrooms. The Tree Farm terrain is gently sloping and has a good access road & trail system. There could be a little off-trail walking, so be prepared!
