LAKE CITY, Fla. — Our livelihood is threatened by a deluge of foreign fruit and produce timed to disrupt our local fresh markets. The current NAFTA situation, which provides zero protection against the unfair foreign trade practices, is all the evidence we need to determine that no one has been speaking up for us. That is going to change!
Join our strongest advocate, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried, the leadership of our grower organizations, and dozens of local farmers from Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina as we unite to combat this imminent threat.
At the meeting on July 30th, we will demonstrate how we can utilize public relations, social media and grower outreach to educate consumers and activate them to put maximum pressure on their grocery stores to support local farmers not foreign subsidized produce. We will engage professionals to train us on how to have impact in our local communities. We will describe how we intend to engage nationally popular spokespeople to leverage their celebrity for the cause of preserving America’s local farmers. And we will hear from Commissioner Fried about Congressional efforts to stop Mexican intrusion into our fresh season.
