The Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship, a 501(c)3 organization, provides a guided pathway to dairy farm business ownership, developing grazing careers, and strengthening the economic and environmental well-being of rural communities and the dairy industry, through education, technology, and the proven path of Registered Apprenticeship.
Who You Are:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the DGA Grants Project Manager (PM) will oversee and manage execution of the organizations grant projects. The majority of DGA’s funding is through grant projects along with foundational and direct support. Currently, there are three (3) active grant projects as follows:
USDA Partnership for Climate-Smart Commodities grant – Implementing Precision Ag Tech to Expand the Participation of Small Grazing Dairy Farms in Climate-Smart Commodities
USDA 2501 grant – Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers and Veteran Farmers and Ranchers Program
USDA Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE) grant – Racial Justice and Equity Conservation Cooperative Agreement
Potential Future Funding:
Beginning Farmer Rancher Development grant
NRCS Conservation Innovation grant
The Project Manager is a generalist with a strong technology background and the ability to manage a variety of both digital and analog projects simultaneously. They will primarily service the teams with some broader organizational support when necessary. The Project Manager will take ownership of projects and collaborate/delegate amongst project teams.
They will understand the critical role that relationships and communications play in a successful project and be very adept at these skills. The Project Manager maintains the trust of diverse, multi-functional project teams and fosters an environment of continuous collaboration, teamwork, and cooperation.
What You’ll Do:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Planning
Develop project plans, workflows, and timelines.
Contribute to project budgets and resource requirements.
Development of project scopes.
Management
Document processes and workflows as appropriate.
Recommend and manage implementation of process efficiencies throughout the organization.
Foster teamwork and collaboration among internal/external teams and vendors.
Assign and schedule project tasks.
Monitor project team workload, working on task prioritization and workload management.
Track project progress against scope, raising issues to stakeholders when scope, timeline, or budget are at risk.
Report project progress status to stakeholders and executives.
Monitor project for issues and recommend creative solutions.
Collaborate with organizational leadership and staff to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
Interface with key external stakeholders, subject matter experts, sponsors, speakers, or partners.
Schedule and lead project meetings, draft agendas, notes, and ensure follow up.
Support DGA financial and budgetary standards through appropriate use of resources and maintaining budget integrity throughout the project.
Coordinate vendor contract negotiation and vendor management.
Assist in conducting market research including market sizing, identifying potential competitors or vendors to assist in new product design.
Quality Assurance
Proactively identify and mitigate project risk, and expeditiously resolve project issues.
Provide ongoing project feedback and improvement recommendations to key stakeholders.
Conduct regular retrospectives and check-ins.
Conduct follow-up activities and engage appropriate resources as needed.

What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field or equivalent experience.
3+ years’ experience in project management roles.
Strategic planning, risk management and change management.
Experience interacting with and communicating to higher levels of management.
Some development experience or experience with coordinating work for development teams.
Experience with product development life cycle.
Familiarity with cloud-based computing systems.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office365 Suite of products.
Proficient with project management software tools.
Experience in these areas a plus:
Account Management Systems (AMS)
nonprofit associations
Managed Grazing systems
Federal grant reporting

Essential Work Conditions
This job operates in a home office Reliable access to the Internet is required.
Travel up to 5%, domestically, including the ability to occasionally attend evening, weekend, and overnight meetings.
Physical demands
Sitting for extended periods of time and may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and handling of other office equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

Competitive salary range $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
$650/month healthcare stipend
401k with a 3% match after 6 months of employment
