AUGUSTA — The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) is looking for a director of finance and administration. Established in 1971, MOFGA is the oldest and largest state organic organization in the country. MOFGA is a broad-based community that educates about and advocates for organic agriculture, illuminating its interdependence with a healthy environment, local food production, and thriving communities.
The new management position will keep pace with the organization’s financial growth and complexity. MOFGA has an annual budget of $3.8 million, assets of $7.2 million, and a $4 million endowment.
The successful candidate will have a degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field (MBA preferred), a professional accounting designation (CMA or CPA), experience in finance management including management of complex budgets (non-profit organization experience preferred), leadership and staff management experience, and excellent communication skills.
Primary responsibilities of this position include: directing MOFGA’s financial activities to ensure operational funding, maintenance and expansion of assets, growth of investments, and administrative efficiency; providing oversight and supervision of department of finance and administration; providing strategic financial advice to senior staff, program directors, MOFGA’s Board of Directors and Finance Committee; working with administration to grow MOFGA’s income generating capacity; and overseeing insurance operations.

Compensation: Salary for this position will be negotiated based on educational background, work experience and demonstrated areas of expertise.
