WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Jefferson County Youth Bureau Advisory Board in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County announces the Awardees for the 2020 Annual Youth Recognition awards. The 2020 Youth Recognition Awards are presented annually to recognize outstanding achievement of youth and adults who work with and support young people. Karen Marcum, Jefferson County Youth Bureau Director shares, “We are excited to announce the 2020 Annual Youth Recognition Awardees. The announcement is later than normal as we intended to hold this in-person at the Hilton Garden, however due to the Covid-19 pandemic we were unable to do so this year. Instead on October 7, 2020 we will have small individual recognition events with awardees.” The youth recognition events will be recorded and placed on the Jefferson County Youth Bureau website for review.
This year three youth awards will be given. Olivia Patterson will receive the Youth Leadership Award which recognizes a young person who has been involved in leadership roles in the school or community. Blaize Smith will receive the Youth Overcoming Odds Award recognizing a young person who has made significant improvements in their life. Jadiel Feliciano will receive the Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award recognizing outstanding volunteer contributions. The two adult awards for this year are Sarah Hoistion for Outstanding Adult Youth Worker, which is for an individual who has paid employment in the youth service, recreation, or education field and has made significant impacts within a school and/or community. Steve and Jenny Watkins are receiving the It Takes A Community Award which is for an adult(s) who is not employed in the youth service, education or recreation field, but has shown an outstanding commitment to bettering the lives of young people and their families. The Jefferson County Youth Advisory Board is pleased to share with the community the outstanding achievements on behalf of youth, families and the community.
