CENTENNIAL, Colo. — JBS, the world’s largest meat packer, announced it will sell Five Rivers Cattle Feeding LLC. The sale comes after its Brazilian-based holding company, J&F Investimentos, admitted to paying millions of dollars in bribes to local politicians. The sale comes within six months of another major corruption settlement, showing the “graft in Latin America’s biggest economy” and the efforts to unmask it, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Five Rivers Cattle Feeding LLC is based in Greeley, Colo., but has four other feedlots throughout the state. The company has a combined capacity of nearly 1 million cattle, making it the largest feeder in the U.S. JBS told the Denver Business Journal that Five Rivers will continue to operate undisturbed until the sale closes. The sale is expected to reach nearly $1.8 billion.
