WALPOLE, N.H. — Farm irrigation systems are a vital component of crop success. Last year’s drought demonstrated the importance of managing our water resources as efficiently and effectively as possible. Irrigation Water Management is the process of determining and controlling the volume, frequency, and application rate of irrigation water in a planned and efficient manner. Farmers are invited to join a discussion of this topic on June 13, 2017 from 5:00-7:30pm at Stonewall Farm in Keene, NH.
To achieve maximum crop yield using available water resources, several factors come into play. This workshop will provide farmers, small producers, and large-scale homesteaders with information on how to manage soil moisture to promote desired crop response while optimizing the use of available water resources. NH NRCS Agricultural Engineer, Manuel Diaz-Gonzalez, will focus this workshop on proper irrigation scheduling in terms of timing, amount, and uniformity, and address additional questions related to water source, power, and application devices, rate and depth.
Event sponsors include Stonewall Farm, the Cheshire County Conservation District, and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Registration is required and can be accessed athttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/
