SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Pork Leadership Institute (IPLI) provides an opportunity for young men and women to become actively involved in the pork industry and network among peers. IPLI, sponsored by the Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA), is administered by the IPPA Youth Committee.

IPLI is a 4 day trip that focuses on leadership, citizenship, and communication skills through hands-on experiences. It is hosted in a different location each year. Youth will learn about pork promotion, research, consumer information and issues that affect the pork industry today.

IPLI delegates must be 16-22 years old by the start of the trip. Delegates need not be pork producers or from pork producing families but must exhibit a sincere interest in the pork industry and agriculture. There is a $200 registration fee, and all other trip expenses are covered by IPPA.

The 2018 trip will make stops in Indiana and Kentucky before arriving at the final destination, Nashville, TN. This trip will focus on pork retail, with an emphasis on leadership and communication. We will leave from the Springfield office on June 25th and return on June 28th.

Applications can be found on ilpork.com and are due by May 25th. There you will also find a tentative agenda. For questions, contact jenny@ilpork.com or 217-529-3100.
