ANKENY, Iowa ā Pat Swanson of Ottumwa has been selected to serve on the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) board of directors.
Beginning her four-year term in November, Swanson will join five other farmers in overseeing the Federal crop insurance program, managed by the Risk Management Agency (RMA).
āIām honored to represent Iowa farmers on this board and share how crop insurance can be most valuable to the Iowa producer,ā said Swanson, who serves as a District 9 director for the Iowa Soybean Association. āIām looking forward to learning more about how crop insurance programs are developed and analyzed before distribution.ā
A Britt, Iowa native and Iowa State University graduate, Swanson operates a soybean, corn and cattle farm with her husband, Don and his family, near Ottumwa. She co-owns and operates Son Risk Management crop insurance agency and has served as an insurance agent since 2005.
Swanson applied for the role after discovering the opportunity through the American Soybean Association, where she serves on the Advocacy Communications Team.
āIām truly humbled to serve in this capacity and I want to hear from other farmers on things they see as helpful or things they feel should be different,ā she said. āI view myself as an advocate for agriculture and that will continue to be my role on the FCIC board.ā
More information about the FCIC is available on theĀ RMA website.
