COON RAPIDS, Iowa — The Iowa Prairie Network invites the public to join their Annual Meeting at Whiterock Conservancy, Diversity Farms, and other prairies in the Coon Rapids and Dedham area.

This event is free and open to the public, including children accompanied by an adult. Some meals will be provided and free-will donations encouraged. RSVPs are requested to ensure adequate food supplies.

Activities will begin on Friday, August 3 at 6pm at the River Campground with a savanna restoration hike followed by a campfire.

Saturday, August 4 will include informational sessions about Whiterock Conservancy, insects, prairie strips, and wetlands. The Annual Meeting will begin at 11am at the Bur Oak Visitors Center. Saturday afternoon activities include prairie hikes at Whiterock, a tour of reconstructed prairies, and dinner at Diversity Farms near Dedham.

The morning of Sunday, August 5 will feature more bird, insect, and prairie walks. RSVPs are requested for meals and free-will donations are encouraged. Full agenda and RSVP information is available at www.iowaprairienetwork.org/about/calendar or Facebook.com/IowaPrairieNetwork.

The Iowa Prairie Network is a grass-roots, volunteer, non-profit, organization that is dedicated to the preservation of Iowa’s prairie heritage. IPN was formed in 1990 by Iowans concerned that our prairie heritage was disappearing. People needed an organization that would bring those that know about prairie together with those that wanted to learn, to form a network of advocacy for Iowa’s natural heritage.

Contact Jon Judson (712-830-4143) or Michelle Biodrowski (402-880-5831) with questions. Contact Whiterock Conservancy for camping information (712-790-8221). Send RSVPs to iowaprairienetworkorg@gmail.com.
