JOHNSTON, Iowa — Today, Iowa farmer-leaders will continue to serve on the National Corn Growers Association’s (NCGA) Corn Board fulfilling their elected roles. In June, the NCGA Corn Board elected Chris Edgington to become the organization’s first vice president for the next fiscal year, which begins today October 1. At that time, Kevin Ross becomes chairman, and the current vice president, John Linder of Ohio becomes NCGA president. Also serving alongside Edgington of Mitchell County and Ross of Pottawattamie County is NCGA director Bruce Rohwer of O’Brien County.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen by my respected colleagues to help lead NCGA into the future,” said Edgington, who farms near St. Ansgar, Iowa. “The landscape facing farmers today is constantly evolving and presents new challenges and opportunities rapidly. Only by working collaboratively with our partners in industry, government and the public can we grow markets for our growing crop. I am excited to be working with our leadership and our partners to develop new, effective ways to ensure a bright future for U.S. corn farmers.”
The NCGA Corn Board represents the organization on all matters while directing both policy and supervising day-to-day operations. Board members represent the federation of state organizations, supervise the affairs and activities of NCGA in partnership with the chief executive officer and implement NCGA policy established by the Corn Congress. Members also act as spokesmen for the NCGA and enhance the organization’s public standing on all organizational and policy issues.
