Introduction to Organic Certification

March 7th workshop hosted by the Monterey County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office

This workshop is designed for producers or handlers of certifiable products and includes presentations from local, state and federal agencies about what is required for USDA organic certification, registration and resource conservation programs. (U.S. Department of Agriculture, Public Domain)

SALINAS, Calif. — The Monterey County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office will host an Introduction to Organic Certification event on Wednesday, March 7th from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ag Conference Center,1428 Abbott Street in Salinas.

This workshop is designed for producers or handlers of certifiable products and includes presentations from local, state and federal agencies about what is required for USDA organic certification, registration and resource conservation programs.  Presenters include:

  • California Department of Food and Agriculture Organic Program staff will review the Organic Registration Program and opportunity for cost-share certification reimbursement.
  • National Resources Conservation Service staff will provide information about their conservation programs, available technical and financial assistance.
  • Monterey County Certified Organic staff will review organic crop certification regulations and the application process.
