MANHATTAN, Kan. — We are excited to announce the release of our new hard white winter wheat, KS Venada, a medium tall, medium late white wheat that has excellent baking qualities. Tested as KS13HW92-3, it has a good disease package for stripe rust, leaf rust, scab, soilborne mosaic virus and some acid soil tolerance. KS Venada also has improved straw strength and preharvest sprouting compared to Joe.
Please note, a weakness of KS Venada is its susceptibility to Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus.
KS Venada fits well in central and western Kansas and north central Oklahoma for producers looking for a high-quality white wheat variety.
