INDIANAPOLIS — Showcasing Indiana’s farmers again this year, Indiana Family of Farmers (IFoF) will host the annual Recipe Trail which educates fairgoers about Indiana’s locally-sourced foods. IFoF will also donate two freezers, which will later be filled with $250 of local dairy and meat products, to the owners of the Habitat for Humanity homes being built at this
year’s state fair.
IFoF Recipe Trail
The IFoF Recipe Trail cards feature recipes that highlight Indiana’s commodities such as pork, beef, poultry, soybeans, corn and dairy. Those interested in participating in the Recipe Trail will start by getting a Wonder Trail map at any Prairie Farms information booth or Animal Town. Participants can start at any of the 10 locations and travel to each stop to collect a recipe card from the identified mailbox. At each stop, fairgoers have the opportunity to learn new information about Indiana agriculture. Participants can visit Animal Town once they have collected 10 recipes, where they will get the 11th recipe from the daily Featured Farmer and receive a small prize for participating.
The Recipe Trail locations are:
Pioneer Village
Pathway to Water Quality
Harvest Pavilion
Purdue Extension Ag/Hort Building
Glass Barn
4-H Exhibit Hall
Swine Barn
FFA Pavilion
Girl Scouts
Indiana Arts Building
Habitat for Humanity Partnership
IFoF is again partnering with Habitat for Humanity at the Indiana State Fair. Each year, Habitat for Humanity builds homes on the state fairgrounds to be donated to local families. IFoF will donate a freezer to each home recipient. Then, when the families occupy their new homes in December, $250 of local dairy and meat products will be donated to fill those freezers.
Member Highlights Attached
IFoF is made up of many agriculture organizations in Indiana that have rallied around the group’s mission to raise awareness of Indiana’s quality farmers and quality foods. Several IFoF member organizations are participating in the Indiana State Fair this year. Several of those member highlights are detailed in the corresponding attachment.
