WALPOLE, N.H. — Residents in and around Keene are invited to several FREE late summer gardening workshops hosted by Monadnock Grows Together (MGT). Monadnock Grows Together is a new regional program that offers a range of education, technical assistance, gardening equipment and more, to residents interested and engaged in backyard gardening and small-scale urban farming. Upcoming gardening workshops include:
Insect Scavenger Hunt: Monday, August 5th, 6-8pm, Westmoreland Garden Project – River Rd. in Westmoreland, NH
Gardening in Containers: Thursday, August 15th, during the Keene Peanut Carnival & Celebration of Local Food at the Rec Center on Washington Street – Stop by the MGT table anytime between 5:30-8:30pm for this workshop
Cover Cropping for the Home Garden: Wednesday, August 21st, 5-7pm, Summit Rd. in Keene (across from the YMCA)
Season Extension & High Tunnel Management: Tuesday, Sept. 10th, 6-8pm, Maplewood Nursing Home & Westmoreland Garden project in Westmoreland, NH
Seed Saving How-To: Saturday, Sept. 28th, 3-5pm, Keene Public Library on Winter Street

Monadnock Grows Together is an Urban Agriculture project developed in partnership by the Cheshire County Conservation District (CCCD), Antioch University’s Community Garden Connections, the Keene Public Library, and the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT). Funding for this urban agriculture conservation grant is provided through a partnership with the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to boost technical capacity nationwide.
