SALEM, Ore. — We have received a number of rejection notices issued by the California Department of Agriculture. The rejections have been issued for shipments that were found not in compliance with California Food and Agricultural Code 6421, which requires that each shipment of plants going into California be visibly labeled with the following information:
- The name and address of the shipper or ownerc
- The name of the person to whom the shipment is forwarded or shipped or the name of his agent
- The name of the country, state, or territory where the contents were grown
- A statement of its contents
Please be aware that each state has their own unique shipment requirements. To ensure your shipments arrive at their destination smoothly, be sure to review the laws and regulations summaries on the National Plant Board website prior to shipping.
As always, the Nursery Program is here to assist our licensed nurseries with their shipping needs. Please contact your nursery inspector or the main office if you have questions.
