SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois November Crop Production report was released Nov. 8 by the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service Heartland Regional Field Office. Corn and soybean harvested acres and yields are down from last year.
The Corn: Planted area is estimated at 10.50 million acres, down 5 percent from last year. Harvested area, forecast at 10.25 million acres, is down 6 percent from 2018. Based on November 1 conditions, the Illinois corn yield is forecast at 179 bushels per acre, unchanged from last month but down 31 bushels from 2018. Production is forecast at 1.83 billion bushels, down 19 percent from last year’s production.
Soybeans: Planted area is estimated at 10.0 million acres, down 7 percent from last year. Harvested area, forecast at 9.94 million acres, is down 5 percent from 2018. Based on November 1 conditions, the Illinois soybean yield is forecast at 51 bushels per acre, down 12.5 bushels from 2018. Production is forecast at 507 million bushels, down 24 percent from 2018.
