Hurricane relief budget disappoints

Fla. Commissioner of Agriculture optimistic changes can be made to budget

PUBLISHED ON November 20, 2017

“Irma devastated Florida agriculture, yet the OMB request puts government reimbursement in front of real taxpayers and completely leaves out the citrus industry," stated Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam. (FDACS)

TALLAHASSEE — Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam today issued the following statement regarding the Office of Management and Budget’s hurricane relief budget request of $44 billion:

“Irma devastated Florida agriculture, yet the OMB request puts government reimbursement in front of real taxpayers and completely leaves out the citrus industry. I am confident our delegation will modify this relief package into something meaningful for Florida farmers and ranchers.”

—Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
