WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, and House Agriculture Committee Chairman K. Michael Conaway have released the following statements on the Senate’s confirmation of Scott Pruitt to be the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Chairman Roberts: Senate Approves Scott Pruitt to be EPA Administrator
U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, today said the Senate approved the nomination of Scott Pruitt to be the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
“I look forward to working with Administrator Pruitt,” Roberts said. “He understands that while farmers and ranchers make their living off the land, they are also its best stewards.
“For years we have struggled with an EPA that was not only tone deaf to the needs and concerns of rural America, it was downright adversarial. Producers were burdened with overregulation, which left them feeling ruled, not governed.
“I am confident Pruitt will lead an EPA that is more respectful of agriculture and will work to restore the trust of farmers, ranchers, and rural Americans.”
Conaway Statement on Scott Pruitt Confirmation
Today the Senate approved the nomination of Scott Pruitt to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). House Agriculture Committee Chairman K. Michael Conaway issued the following statement.
“I am pleased with today’s confirmation of EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt,” said Chairman Conaway.“For too long, farmers and ranchers have suffered from unnecessary, burdensome regulations as a result of EPA overreach. Administrator Pruitt understands that farmers and ranchers are the original, and best, stewards of the land, and I look forward to working with him to provide much-needed regulatory relief for rural America.”
