VOLUSIA CO., Fla. — With daily temperatures hovering around 90 degrees, it’s hard to think about working outside. But it’s already time to start laying the groundwork for your fall vegetable garden.
Joe Sewards will offer tips on getting ready for the fall vegetable season from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 19, at Lyonia Environmental Center, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona.
Sewards, an urban and residential horticulturist with the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension, will explain which vegetables grow well in Central Florida, when to plant them, and how to prepare the soil. He will also address traditional gardening, hydroponics and square-foot gardening.
Registration is required; call the Extension at 386-822-5778.
