CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Hoober, Inc., an agricultural equipment dealer with eight locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia recently announced the addition of Checchi & Magli (C&M) Hemp Transplanters for industrial hemp growers to their lineup of ag equipment.

C&M is the leader in industrial hemp transplanters in the United States and Hoober, Inc. will supply sales, service and parts support for growers in the entire Hoober, Inc. footprint.

“We’re excited to be able to offer an innovative product like C&M Hemp Transplanters for industrial hemp growers in our region,” said Chuck Hoober. “They are the recognized leader in that equipment line and their performance is absolutely outstanding. They provide excellent accuracy, adjustability and can do the job in any field condition.”

Growing industrial hemp starts with a good transplant as quite often seeding results in a higher loss of crop. C&M Hemp Transplanters plant hemp plug plants straight up, even plants as high as 22” tall. The transplanter packs the soil around the hemp plug and there is even an optional electronic water application that is available which applies water immediately after the hemp plug has been planted.

C&M has been providing transplanters in the North American market for over 25 years. Some of the main crops utilizing C&M transplanters are tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, turnips, onions, sweet potatoes, melons and strawberries. And now, the growing industrial hemp market is taking advantage of C&M’s capabilities.

“Without a doubt, the industrial hemp market has taken off and to be able to offer C&M Hemp Transplanters to our customers provides a big boost to their productivity,” said Mark Bonson, store manager at Hoober’s Chambersburg location. Bonson will oversee the ordering and follow-up on the transplanters for customers. “You’re talking about a machine that can put the seedlings in the ground, with water, and firmly pack the soil around it all at an exceptional pace. Plus, each transplanter is made specifically for the user’s needs, which is another reason they’re so popular.”

C&M Hemp Transplanters can plant directly into the soil or through plastic and are available in standard and no-till options ranging from one row to eight rows.
