MASSENA, N.Y. — The first workshop of the Fall season for the Local Living Venture, “Home Brewery Tour and Tasting” is an opportunity for beer enthusiasts to sample others’ and show off their own brews, if available, as well as see a top-notch home brewery in action.
The workshop will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 at a private home in Massena, NY. Attendees must be at least 21 years of age or older.
Presenters Loren Fountaine and Mike Zagrobelny will host this informative session that will cover the basics, and more hard core home brewing techniques, to help other home brewers be their best. Attendees are encouraged to bring their home brew samples and any questions they may have.
Loren Fountaine began brewing beer in the early 2000’s.  He started on his stove brewing extract batches and the hobby has stuck with him. We will be touring an entire room of his home dedicated to brewing, including an upgrade to an automated recirculating mash system in 2014 with which he has brewed over 400 gallons of beer. Recently, he opened a business called HomebrewU with the goal of teaching others how to brew beer.
Mike Zagrobelny has been brewing for the past four years. Home brewing satisfies his love of good beer and thrifty nature of getting something good for less. Mike enjoys all things old, and is an avid collector of old machines. Home brewing and the creation of his home bar fit perfectly together to incorporate years of collecting for reuse and re-purposing.
For this unique learning experience, a $22 general public, $40 per couple, $10 student donation is requested to benefit Local Living Venture non-profit workshop creation. Reduced rate and scholarships are available upon request.
There is an attendance limit on this workshop so interested parties will need to RSVP for the location and further details. Email to LocalLivingVenture@gmail.com and include your phone number(s) and the number in your party for all pertinent information. Email is preferred but messages at (315) 347-4223 or texts to (315) 261-1926 will be responded to within 24 hours.
