STORRS, Conn. — Join the Agriculture Committees/Commissions of Ashford, Coventry, Mansfield, Tolland, and Windham to learn why and how to protect one of agriculture’s greatest resources – diverse genetics. There are already lots of farm families in Connecticut using heritage breeds, and some even expertly husband rare breeds of livestock. Jeannette Beranger, The Livestock Conservancy Senior Programs Manager, will help us all understand more about the challenges heritage breeds face, their value to both culture and agriculture, how they fit into Connecticut’s style of agriculture, and why you should care – whether you raise animals or not!
