ORISKANY, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida County Master Gardener Volunteers invite you to the 23rd Annual Herb & Flower Festival on Saturday June 15th, 2018. Come and stroll among the blooms and abundant plants for sale at vendors set up throughout the Parker F. Scripture Botanical Gardens, located at the Oneida County Farm and Home Center, 121 Second St., Oriskany, NY. Admission is $4 at the door.
The festival runs from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm and includes 4 free classes for gaining new gardening knowledge on the following subjects:
“Dahlias delight the eye in Gardens”- highlights the care and maintenance of these South American bulb-based plants. The National Garden Bureau selected this plant as the 2019 bulb of the year.
“Hostas Enhance Garden Shade”- a detailed explanation of the care and selection of the great varieties of Hostas that bring a foliar experience. Hummingbirds enjoy the many flowers of hostas.
“Successful Container Gardening works for everyone”- the wide range of home situations can be enhanced by flowering or herbal container plants with instructions of how to best achieve good container plantings.
- “Orchids shine in your Home!” Growing Orchids can be easier than perceived with this talk of the basics of orchid care and the different varieties. The long- lasting flowers of orchids are wonderful.
Shop through ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, herbs and vegetable plants. Products from tools, food to gardening wares will also be available to purchase from over 40 merchants! The Master Gardener booth offers information on a variety of topics and will be happy to answer your gardening questions.
