BROOMFIELD, Colo. — The recent passage of a Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government through December 11th contained a provision to extend the industrial hemp pilot program authorized in the 2014 Farm Bill. As a result, the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Industrial Hemp Program, and the state’s industrial hemp producers, will continue operations under current rules until September 30, 2021.
A positive step for Colorado’s hemp industry, the extension will allow Colorado to continue to represent the state’s hemp industry and collaborate with USDA to determine a workable path forward that will strengthen the industry and provide regulatory structure based on flexibility and practicality.
