Hay stocks in the Northwest Region up 1 percent from May 1, 2021

Idaho hay stocks saw the biggest jump in the region with a 29% increase, Oregon and Washington saw decreases

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Hay stocks on farms on May 1, 2022 totaled 530,000 tons in Idaho, up 29 percent from a year ago. May 1 stocks represent 12 percent of 2021 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2021 was 1.82 million tons. On-farm hay stocks in Oregon totaled 220,000 tons, down 24 percent from 2021. May 1 stocks are 9 percent of 2021 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2021 totaled 700,000 tons. Washington on-farm hay stocks totaled 180,000 tons down 18 percent from last year. May 1 stocks represent 7 percent of 2021 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2021 was 920,000 tons. Hay stocks stored on United States farms totaled 16.8 million tons, down 7 percent from a year ago. May 1 stocks are 14 percent of 2021 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2021 totaled 62.2 million tons.
