Hay stocks in the Northwest Region down 12 percent from 2020

Oregon saw biggest drop at 27% from previous year, while Washington sees 38% increase

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Hay stocks on farms on May 1, 2021 totaled 410,000 tons in Idaho, down 16 percent from a year ago. May 1 stocks represent 8 percent of 2020 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2020 was 2.1 million tons. On-farm hay stocks in Oregon totaled 290,000 tons, down 27 percent from 2020. May 1 stocks are 10 percent of 2020 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2020 totaled 1.3 million tons. Washington on-farm hay stocks totaled 220,000 tons up 38 percent from last year. May 1 stocks represent 8 percent of 2020 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2020 was 880,000 tons. Hay stocks stored on United States farms totaled 18.0 million tons, down 12 percent from a year ago. May 1 stocks are 14 percent of 2020 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2020 totaled 66.0 million tons.
