MENARD, Texas — A Hay Production Workshop conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., April 18, at the Murchison/Whitehead Memorial Youth Complex at 190 West U.S. Highway 190 in Menard.

“This will be a day full of information on a wide array of forage and hay-related topics,” said Lisa Brown, AgriLife Extension agent in Menard County. “We have some top speakers scheduled, a lunch catered by Central Texas Farm Credit of Brady and an equipment display by Quality Implement Company of Brady, so this will be an outstanding program for those involved in hay and forage production in our area.”

Topics and speakers will include:

  • The Value of Equipment Maintenance – Taylor Oakley, Quality Implement Company representative
  • Forage Pests – Dr. Sonja Swiger, AgriLife Extension veterinary entomologist, Stephenville
  • Hay Production and Forage Sampling – Dr. Larry Redmon, AgriLife Extension program leader, College Station
  • Irrigation – Dr. Guy Fipps, AgriLife Extension agricultural engineering specialist, College Station

Two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units, one general and one integrated pest management, will be offered.

Individual preregistration is $20 by April 16 and $25 thereafter. To register and for more information, contact Brown at 325-396-4787, lbrown@ag.tamu.edu.
