PENN YAN, N.Y. — The New York Animal Agriculture Coalition (NYAAC) is growing and is excited to welcome Hannah Johnson as their Communications Manager. Johnson will join the not-for-profit organization in August and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and animal science experience. As a lifelong agricultural advocate, Johnson looks forward to sharing her passion for the dairy industry and animal agriculture with farmers and community members throughout New York State.
“We are looking forward to having Hannah join the NYAAC team.” said Steve Palladino, Chairman of NYAAC and dairy farmer from Lansing, NY. “People are thirsting for information about where their food comes from and it’s our responsibility to provide honest, transparent, and engaging content to help people understand NY animal agriculture. Hannah brings an excitement to the team that is going to help NYAAC expand its offerings well into the future.”
As the Communications Manager, Johnson will work alongside NY farmers to help provide accurate and timely information to their neighbors, online followers, and local community leaders. She will be responsible for developing content to be shared on the NYAAC website and social media channels that reaches all of the corners of New York State. Johnson will work alongside Eileen Jensen, the NYAAC Executive Director, to develop new and engaging ideas to help spread the mission of NYAAC. She will also be an essential part of the organization’s flagship program, the Dairy Cow Birthing Center, when it returns to the New York State Fair in 2021.
“I am excited to join NYAAC because I am passionate about the animal agriculture industries and the families that this vast industry supports.” Johnson said. “I look forward most to the opportunity to help our farmers reach their community members through positive interactions. Additionally, I’m excited to help animal agriculturists establish meaningful relationships with those who depend on their wholesome and safe products to feed their families.”
Johnson has been active in the dairy industry in a variety of ways. She received her Masters Degree in Agricultural Education from Ithaca College after graduating from Cornell University and SUNY Cobleskill. Johnson has most recently spent her time as the Agricultural Educator and FFA Advisor at a rural school district in Western New York, where she resides.
