FREEPORT, Ill. — The University of Illinois Extension will continue their “Grower Spotlight” webinar series on Thursday April 2, 2020, from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. This webinar series serves as a platform for our local producers and allows other growers, agribusiness professionals, university and private industry to come together to discuss agriculture. Not only will our featured guests be able to discuss their operations in detail, these programs allow participants to ask questions throughout and gain valuable insight from those with experience.
This edition of University of Illinois Extension’s “Grower Spotlight” will be moderated by Phillip Alberti (University of Illinois Extension) and will feature Clara Joyce Flowers (Drew Groezinger). Clara Joyce Flowers is a specialty crop farm in the northwest corner of Illinois. “At Clara Joyce Flowers, we focus on growing high quality crops such as cut-flowers and blooming plants for the wholesale market, as well as CBD hemp,” Groezinger says.
The goal of this webinar is to provide a review of the biggest lessons learned from the 2019 season. Knowing the ins and outs of this industry before getting involved will be critical to success in this new market. A large portion of the program will focus on the lessons learned with regards to planting methods, fertility, harvest, and storage.
Throughout the educational program, participants will be allowed to contribute to a live Q and A with our guest. The webinar invitation will be sent via email following registration for the program. Those interested in attending the workshop may register online at go.illinois.edu/jsw.
There is no cost for this program, but registrations are limited to the first 100 participants, so register now to secure a spot in the program and the chance to ask questions. The webinar will be posted online at go.illinois.edu/hemp shortly following the program.
