WELLINGTON, Fla. — The Grooms Award, Ltd. presented gift bags to all of the grooms of the horses that competed in the CSIO5* Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of the United States of America at the Palm Beach Masters Series®, February 17 in Wellington, Florida. The Grooms Award Ltd., a non-for-profit organization, celebrates professional hunter/jumper grooms and their dedication to the care of show horses.
“It was a pleasure handing out gift bags to all of the dedicated and hard-working grooms at the Nations Cup at Deeridge Farms,” said Andrea Mewhinney, Director of The Grooms Award, Ltd., who joined Tracy Emanuel, Georgia Coyle and Corinne Doubleday in presenting the gifts to grooms at the Nations Cup. “Their attention to detail and love for the horses they work with is an inspiration. They are an integral part of the horse and rider team.

As a family with a long history in show jumping, the Jacobs fully appreciate the role of grooms and their contributions to the care of horses.”
The CSIO5* Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of the United States of America was the first of nine shows at which the Grooms Award is presenting gifts to grooms this year. This year marks the most events at which the Grooms Award is present. The Grooms Award will also be at the Del Mar National Horse Show, Devon Horse Show (Sapphire Grand Prix of Devon), Lake Placid Horse Shows (I Love New York Grand Prix), American Gold Cup, Pennsylvania National Horse Show (Grand Prix de Penn National), Del Mar International, National Horse Show and Las Vegas National Horse Show.
Created to recognize the workers “behind the scenes,” the Grooms Award was named for Moira Caffarey (who unexpectedly passed away in 1997) and later George Hennessy (transporter for former USET). Moira cared for 1983 FEI World Cup Champion, “I Love You,” who was inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame in 2014. Friends of Moira donated a trophy for the first-ever grooms’ award at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show (Harrisburg) where individuals and companies donated prizes to be given to the winning groom. As donations increased each year, it was decided that each of the Grand Prix grooms deserved a “Thank You” for their efforts and professionalism. A tote bag was awarded to each Grand Prix groom, filled with goodies and gift cards from generous sponsors.
The Grooms’ Award, Ltd. is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, recognizing professional grooms at select major horse shows each year. The Grooms’ Award, Ltd. welcomes donations and sponsorships.
