SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The 96th Annual Agriculture Production Conference and Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District Annual Meeting is Thursday, March 7 in the 2nd-floor banquet room at Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, 6821 West Independence, Springfield.
A free dinner catered by Does Eat Place begins at 5:30 p.m.
The two featured speakers for the evening will cover two topics identified as being of significant interest for agriculture production this coming year.
Wesley Tucker, agriculture business specialist, MU Extension, will present “‘Estate and Succession Planning for the Family Farm.”
The evening will end with a panel discussion focused on “Making Local Foods Profitable for the Farm.” Kelly McGowan, horticulture specialist with MU Extension will moderate the panel featuring Joann Pipkin, Clearwater Angus Farm, Republic, Kassi Glassman, Blue Silo Beef, Ash Grove, and David Middleton, Middleton’s All Natural Meats, Mt. Vernon.
The evening will begin with updates from the Farm Services Agency and NRCS, the Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District and Greene County MU Extension.
“This conference provides research-based information and options to area agriculture producers that can help them make more informed and profitable decisions,” said Tim Schnakenberg, agronomy specialist with MU Extension and coordinator of this program.
Pre-registration is needed by March 4 for this free event to aid in meal planning.
