JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — We’ve shared important updates this week regarding relief efforts for our fellow farmers in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. THANK YOU very much for stepping up and helping out. The response has been tremendous, but not surprising. Missouri’s farm families have demonstrated an incredible amount of support.
Here’s a rundown of things you should know:
- Gov. Eric Greitens asked for, and has received, a waiver of travel time restrictions from MoDOT to move the hay so generously offered by Missouri farmers & ranchers through April 8, 2017. Permits for oversized loads of hay will: be issued free of charge, be issued up to 12′ wide and allow travel during curfew hours.
- F-plated trucks can travel freely in Missouri. The 150-mile radius restriction does not apply to the specific case of hauling hay at no charge in relief to other states.
- Monetary donations are being accepted by the following:
1) Colorado Farm Bureau: https://goo.gl/RiAuKI
2.) Kansas Livestock Association: https://goo.gl/98CtuD
3.) Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association Foundation: P.O. Box 82395, Oklahoma City, OK 73148
4.) Texas Department of Agriculture‘s State of Texas Agriculture Relief Fund (STAR): https://goo.gl/mkMDQ9
5.) Texas Farm Bureau Panhandle Relief: https://goo.gl/CfpQYF - Read Director Chinn’s reflections in her blog post.
Updates will continue to be posted on our Facebook page, so tune in to stay in the loop.
