PRIMGHAR, Iowa — A grant writing workshop is scheduled to be presented in Primghar and Orange City in the coming weeks. Representatives of nonprofits, local government and schools are invited to attend either workshop.
The workshops are titled Grant Writing 101, and will provide hands-on training in seeking and writing successful grant applications.
Workshop dates and information are as follows:
- Grant Writing 101 will be hosted at the Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach – O’Brien County office (340 2nd Street SE, Primghar) on Feb. 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A light meal will be served at the beginning of the program. Cost of the workshop is $20 with registration required by Feb. 20. To register, call the ISU Extension and Outreach – O’Brien County office at 712-957-5045.
- Grant Writing 101 will be hosted at the ISU Extension and Outreach – Sioux County office (400 Central Ave. NW, Suite 700, Orange City) onMarch 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served at noon. Cost of the workshop is $20 with registration required by Feb. 28. To register, call the ISU Extension and Outreach – Sioux County office at 712-737-4230.
Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, iPad or tablet device to the workshop, if they have one available.
The training will be presented by Jane Nolan Goeken, a Community and Economic Development program specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach. Goeken has more than 28 years of experience with grants, including writing successful applications for a variety of federal, state, local and foundation grant programs. She has also served as a grant application reviewer and has helped set up grant award and review programs.
Goeken will assist workshop participants in exploring various public and private funding sources, and provide instruction and tips on planning projects and writing successful grant applications. For more information about the workshops, contact Jane Goeken at jngoeken@iastate.edu or 712-240-2504.
