ONEIDA CO., N.Y. — With the launch of the 2021 summer season, the Oneida County Public Market has added some consumer enhancements to the market space to help make shoppers more comfortable and shopping easier. With funding secured through the Farmers Market Promotion Program grant with the USDA, multiple picnic tables have been added throughout the market space to afford those visiting the market the opportunity to sit, rest, and visit or to enjoy eating a fresh meal from one of the ready-to-eat food vendors now on site at each market session.
Additionally, this funding has enabled market management to add convenience shopping carts that are now available to market shoppers every week. The āCart Corralā is located inside the Railway Express Agency (REA) wing of Union Station. The same space that houses the Public Marketās information and SNAP table and additional market vendors. You are only asked to return the carts to the Corral at the end of your market visit.
āWe strive to make each shopperās visit to the Public Market as easy and enjoyable as we can. This USDA grant enables us to enhance the market experience so people can relax and enjoy being in the space, as well as make it easier and more convenient to move about the space making their purchases and safely getting them to the car to take home.ā, states Beth Irons, Market Manager.
