LINCOLN — Governor Pete Ricketts released the third episode of “The Nebraska Way” featuring former Nebraska Governor Kay Orr. In their conversation, they talk about Governor Orr’s friendship with President Ronald Reagan, her time in public office, pro-life issues, the dangers of marijuana, and their shared love of books and history.
Kay Orr is the former Governor of Nebraska. She first got involved in politics as a grassroots volunteer, working on campaigns. She was appointed State Treasurer by Governor Charlie Thone in 1981, and served for almost 6 years. In 1986, she became the first woman elected to statewide office in Nebraska, and the first female Republican Governor elected in any state. She currently serves on the board of Hillsdale College.
