CHICO, Calif. — Golden State Farm Credit (GSFC) welcomes Dan Mattos to its Board of Directors effective April 1, 2022, for a five-year term.
Before joining the GSFC board, Mattos concluded his professional career as a relationship manager at CoBank in March of 2021. CoBank is a member of the Farm Credit System, a national network of cooperatively owned financial service providers dedicated to supporting rural communities and agriculture throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
“It is rare to find someone who is as familiar with the Farm Credit System as Dan Mattos; he adds years of experience and depth to our board that will help us remain positioned for future growth and changes within our industry,” said Rob Farris, President and CEO of Golden State Farm Credit, “An added plus is he is from California and is able to share a national perspective on a local level, making him an excellent resource and asset for the customers we serve in our northern and southern regions.”
Notably, Mattos started working at Farm Credit in 1985. Throughout his 36-year tenure within the Farm Credit System, he held many positions at USAgBank, Western Farm Credit Bank, Sacramento Farm Credit Bank and Fresno-Madera Production Credit Association. His skills include analysis of customer trends and performance, maintaining association financial models and development of loan origination software. Throughout his career, he participated in several association credit reviews.
Mattos graduated from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, CA in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management. He also holds an associate’s degree from Modesto Junior College.
In his free time, Mattos serves as his church’s finance committee chairperson. He enjoys gardening at the Carmichael Community Garden, hunting, fishing, and backpacking. Mattos also supports youth organizations and is a former BSA Assistant Scoutmaster and coach of youth soccer and basketball.
