BISMARCK — Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has named Katie Clyde as the recipient of the 2017 Weed Control Partner Award.
Clyde has been employed with the Billings County Weed Board for nine years, and has served as the weed officer since 2015. She also serves as a weed seed free forage inspector and serves on the North Dakota Weed Control Association executive board.
“Katie promotes teamwork by working cooperatively with landowners, neighboring weed boards, grazing associations, oil companies, and various state and federal agencies,” said Goehring. “She judiciously utilizes state funding and searches for additional grants to strengthen the program.”
Goehring said Clyde encourages education and provides public outreach on integrated weed management; early detection and rapid response; and spray equipment calibration.
“Anyone who knows Katie knows that she is an ambitious and hard worker,” Goehring said. “She has put her education, experience and new ideas to work to further develop her local weed control program.”
Deputy Agriculture Commissioner Tom Bodine presented the award to Clyde on Tuesday, Jan. 10, during the 2017 Commissioner’s Weed Forum in Bismarck.
A Medora native, Clyde received her bachelor’s degree in agricultural studies from Dickinson State University. She currently lives in Dickinson and raises horses and cattle.
