LANSING, Mich. — March 8, 2017 is Women’s Day Holiday, observed annually worldwide as a time to express respect, appreciation, love and to celebrate women’s achievements. Around the world, many people give flowers to their mothers, wives, grandmothers and daughters, as well as coworkers, teachers and friends in recognition of Women’s Day.
In keeping with the tradition of giving flowers on Women’s Day, the Michigan Greenhouse Grower’s Council encourages consumers to look for Michigan grown flowers and plants when shopping for flowers to give in recognition of Women’s Day.
“March in Michigan is a good time to start purchasing flowers in the build-up for summer gardens and Women’s Day is the perfect excuse to go on-line and search for your Michigan grown favorites,” said Val Vail-Shirey, Executive Director of the Michigan Greenhouse Growers Council.
Michigan greenhouses grow a large variety of vibrant flowering pots, plants, annuals and perennials for giving or to brighten your own home or office.
“Michigan’s greenhouse grown bedding plants are easy to grow and care for, bright and colorful, long flowering and heavy with blooms, healthy and vigorous. They have been trialed and tested for growing in Michigan zones,” said Vail-Shirey.
“On March 8, Women’s Day, make sure you are buying Michigan flowers and plants to assure a bright and beautiful Michigan day,” Vail-Shirey said.
