ETTRICK, Va. — Ginger and turmeric have historically been used in different types of cuisine for their zesty flavors. The spices also may have a number of health benefits.
Explore both of these crops during Virginia State University’s Ginger and Turmeric Field Day at the school’s Randolph Farm. Participants can learn more about the production and marketing of ginger and turmeric and see how to harvest, clean and package these spices.
Admission to the field day is $20 per person and includes indoor presentations, a grower panel discussion, a culinary demonstration and a field visit.
Registration and more information is available online at ext.vsu.edu/events/2017/11/16/ginger-turmeric-field-day.
