ST. LUCIE CO., Fla. — The Oxbow Eco-Center is once again hosting Dirty Hands Day, an environmental volunteer event, on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family or civic group to enjoy the cool breeze, sunshine and charms of Florida’s beautiful natural areas while giving back to your community through environmental stewardship.

Volunteers will be getting their hands dirty weeding, raking pine needles, leaves and debris, installing hand-painted stepping stones and various other activities.  Please bring a water bottle and closed-toe shoes, all tools will be provided.  Pre-registration is not required.

Dirty Hands Day was developed with the intention of giving individuals and groups the chance to volunteer in the field of natural resource management and will take place every third Saturday of the month (October-March). The projects will vary depending on the needs of the Oxbow and St. Lucie County’s Environmental Resources Department, but could include re-planting the garden, creating yard art, trail maintenance, erosion control and much more.

The Oxbow Eco-Center is a St. Lucie County environmental learning center located at 5400 N.E. St. James Drive in Port St. Lucie. To learn more, call 772-785-5833 or visit www.oxboweco.com.
