Crops
The remnants of Hurricane Zeta reduced the time farmers were able to spend in fields. In addition to rain showers, high winds caused several limbs and some trees to fall as the storm passed. Cotton was defoliated and harvest continued as the weather permitted. Some farmers noted boll rot in cotton. Peanuts were dug and harvest progressed slowly due to the wet conditions across the state. Some farmers waited to finish peanut harvest before moving to cotton. As soybean dropping leaves neared completion, harvest continued. Pecan harvest continued.
Livestock and Pastures
Cattle producers across much of the state continued preparing for fall and winter forage planting. Farmers noted the rain helped pastures planted with cool season forages.
