ROCHESTER, N.Y. — If you love both garlic and gardening then read on! High quality garlic is available for sale right now. And along with it two Garlic Growing Workshops are being offered!
Building on the great results and enthusiasm of last year’s garlic homegrowers, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County is organizing a garlic seed sale and offering two educational workshops to help people be successful in their garlic growing endeavors.
Quality seeds are critical to garlic growing success. Our garlic seeds are sourced from Fraser’s Garlic Farm. Fraser’s Farm is known for producing superior quality organic certified garlic stock. We are offering one of the most popular varieties – German White hardneck. This variety is great for storage as well as for fresh eating.
For ordering and pickup options follow this link https://monroe.cce.cornell.edu/events/2022/10/12/-organic-certified-garlic-for-sale
Garlic orders can be picked up:
- On Monday October 24th at the Rush Public Library, 5977 East Henrietta Rd., Rush, NY following the Workshop (see more details below)
- On Thursday November 10th or on Friday November 11th between 9am and 6pm at CCE of Monroe County, 2449 St. Paul Blvd., Rochester, NY
Although garlic is one of the easiest plants to grow, producing high-quality garlic with large tasty full-flavored cloves – while avoiding pests and diseases – requires skill and knowledge. To help people grow their garlic we are offering two workshops – one in person and one online – in order to accommodate busy schedules. During the workshop the participants will learn about planting, care and harvest including curing and storing. We will also compare the Hardneck & Softneck garlic and their uses.
IN-PERSON: workshop registration at https://monroe.cce.cornell.edu/events/2022/10/24/rush-library-garlic-workshop-in-person. This workshop will also include information on the health benefits and use of garlic presented by Ally Miller, Nutritional Program Educator, CCE of Monroe County.
ON-LINE: workshop registration at https://calendar.libraryweb.org/calendar/Central/Garlic .
