COLUMBUS, Ohio — OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers in Franklin County are inviting the gardening public to participate in educational events associated with their annual statewide Master Gardener Volunteer Conference scheduled to be held on the OSU Columbus Campus on Sept. 29.
Conference events open to the general public include four different day-long bus tours of the finest gardens and urban farms throughout Columbus and an evening dinner and presentation by popular PBS gardening expert Melinda Myers.
The day-long bus tours will visit garden sites such as Franklin Park Conservatory, The Heritage Garden at the Governor’s Mansion, Whetstone Park of Roses, The Topiary Park, Big Lots Garden, Gantz Farm and many more. The stunning garden of Bexley residents Jack and Cheri Luck will be featured on one of the tours. An urban farm tour will visit six different urban farms in Columbus. Registration for the day-long bus tours is $65 per person and includes lunch and all admissions. All of the bus tours will depart the Ohio 4-H Center on the OSU Campus at 8 a.m. and will return at 4:30 p.m.
Gardeners are also invited to participate in an evening reception, dinner and presentation by Melinda Myers on the topic of Well Loved Ohio Garden Plants. Registration for the dinner event is $60 per person and includes an author’s reception with appetizers and beer and wine included, a full dinner and the presentation.
