GREENWICH, N.Y. — The Agricultural Stewardship Association (ASA) and the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District are sponsoring four levels of the Game of Logging Training. Levels 1 and 2 will be held on April 17 and 18 and again on October 21 and 22. Levels 3 and 4 will be held on October 28 and 29.
The Game of Logging is widely acknowledged as the premier chainsaw safety and productivity training program in the country, offering hands on chainsaw safety training in a competitive environment. Developed in the 1960’s by Soren Eriksson, a Swedish logger turned training instructor, the Game of Logging combines Scandinavian logging techniques with the latest systems for working safely around trees. The Game of Logging is a valuable training for anyone using a chainsaw whether you are a forester, farmer, landowner or suburban weekend warrior.
The trainings will be taught by instructors from Northeast Woodland Training based in Bristol Vermont. Trainers, John Adler and David Birdsall are expert instructors who receive consistently positive reviews from participants.
The cost is $150 per level and the training levels must be completed consecutively. This year scholarships are available for non-forestry professionals who complete all 4 training levels. Scholarship applications are available on the ASA website.
