MARSHFIELD, Mo. — An “FSMA PSA Food Safety Training” workshop designed for commercial fruit and vegetable producers has been planned for two southwest Missouri locations according to Patrick Byers, field specialist in horticulture with University of Missouri Extension.
The FSMA mandated training includes modules on worker health and hygiene, soil amendments, wildlife, and domesticated animals, production water, postharvest water, and postharvest handling and sanitation. Additional topics on the meeting agenda include developing a farm food safety plan, including a traceback system.
“Now that the FSMA rules for fresh produce are in place, farmers are encouraged to attend this workshop, which will satisfy the mandated training requirement for their FSMA compliance,” said Byers.
