TOPEKA, Kan. — According to USDA, a review of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP)–Additional Assistance by the Biden administration still is ongoing, but a decision is anticipated in the weeks ahead. The program would expand eligibility for some agricultural producers and commodities.
In the meantime, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) has announced it will continue to accept CFAP-Additional Assistance applications during the review process, thereby eliminating the February 26 deadline. In addition, producers will be given at least an extra 30 days to sign up after a decision is announced. Payments from the CFAP 2 signup that ended December 11 have not been impacted in any way.
CFAP-Additional Assistance is not CFAP 3. FSA has yet to prepare that program, which would implement the crop, cattle and dairy margin coverage provisions of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. Producers should monitor information from their local FSA office for details on when and how those payments will be made.
